The Meaning Behind This Painting
For a couple of weeks I had this phrase running through my head, "something wicked this way comes". I think it came from Shakespeare, I'm not sure. Anyway, I wanted it to fit with a Halloween theme. I also wanted it to fit the political climate yet be pleasant to look at.
The black division is to divide good from evil. Above is calming blue skies where Heaven might be. Below ground are these evil things that are growing. Is there going to be conflict?
I knew I was going to name this piece WICKED, especially if it turned out like I wanted. The sky and ground were done in layers with a dry brush technique using very little water or paint on the brush. Layering over the previous color but allowing some of the bottom color to come through. This creates depth.
I wanted to provoke thought. Some of my best paintings come from my dreams which can stir creative ideas.

This abstract represents our cities and how we are all contected via the power grid. All the rectangles represents buildings (done with a palette knife) and the horizontal lines are done in metallic gold (4 of them) which represents the electric power.
